The Bass BB Preamp sits at the front of your board doing double duty: clean boost when you need to punch through a mix, or a warm, firm-edged distortion when you want grit that doesn’t collapse the low end. Xotic built the gain circuit to preserve your instrument’s original attack and tonal character across the range, so cranking the gain knob feels like an extension of your bass rather than a mask over it. Note separation stays tight even as the drive increases, and a light touch of compression smooths the texture without squashing dynamics.
Two broadly-overlapping EQ bands each offer 15dB of boost or cut, giving you real shaping power to carve out lows and highs, scoop mids, or push a specific frequency forward for slap, pick, or fingerstyle playing. Because the bands overlap so heavily, small tweaks translate into musical, usable changes rather than surgical, hard-to-dial-in shifts.
True bypass keeps the pedal sonically invisible when switched off, so it won’t color or thin your tone elsewhere in the chain. Power it with a 9V battery or an optional 9VDC negative-tip AC adapter (regulated recommended).
