Description
Designed by Andy Fuchs, the Plush Drive takes a different route to tube-like overdrive: instead of relying purely on diode clipping, it pairs a bi-FET integrated circuit with matched discrete FETs to replicate the musical second-order distortion of a tube stage — quietly, reliably, and with far less noise floor than you’d expect from a pedal this dense in character.
On a pedalboard, it slots in as your go-to gain stage for anything from touch-responsive blues breakup to a thicker, Dumble-flavored medium-gain overdrive, all controlled through four straightforward knobs:
- Gain – sweeps from mild, dynamic blues drive up to a saturated, high-headroom overdrive at max.
- Touch – the standout control here, dialing in how sensitively the circuit reacts to your pick attack and finger pressure.
- Tone – rolls from a dark, rounded voice fully counter-clockwise to a chimey, bright top end as you turn up.
- Level – sets your output/solo boost when the pedal’s engaged (LED lit).
Because the circuit leans on FETs rather than a straightforward clipping recipe, it responds to your playing dynamics the way a cranked tube amp does — clean up your attack and the pedal follows, dig in and it thickens up. That makes it a natural fit ahead of an amp you already like, adding push rather than masking your tone.
Runs on standard 9V DC power (Roland-style or equivalent, or a Plush adaptor from your dealer). Note: using an incorrect adaptor can damage the pedal and voids warranty coverage. Measures 5″ x 3.625″.
