Description
Fuzz has always been an argument nobody wins — Fuzz Face snarl versus Big Muff wall versus something spittier still. Jackson Audio’s answer is the FUZZ: a modular platform built around swappable analog plug-in circuits, so instead of buying a new pedal every time you crave a different flavor of fuzz, you drop in a different module.
It ships loaded with the MODERN FUZZ plug-in, which runs clean and vintage-flavored at low gain and turns snarling, gated, and spitty as you push it — rolling back your guitar’s volume cleans it up gracefully. The optional MODERN FUZZ DELUXE module adds two extra clipping voices via an internal jumper: a smoother, higher-headroom DIST setting and an OD setting that leans into vintage overdrive territory.
What sets this apart on a board is the onboard tone-shaping. A 9-control parametric EQ (bass, mid, and treble level, frequency, and Q, with several trimmers accessible internally) lets you carve out exactly where your fuzz sits in a mix — critical for a pedal that can otherwise swallow your riffs whole.
The built-in octave circuit ranges from clean, pure octave-up to full sonic chaos, with a BLEND knob that mixes clean and fuzz/octave signal. Turn it fully counterclockwise and it works as a boost — stack it in front of a Fuzz Face-style circuit and you’re in Tone Bender territory. Turn it fully clockwise for total fuzz/octave saturation.
