At its core sits a silicon BC-108 transistor, the same breed responsible for the thick, rounded crunch of classic Fuzz Face circuits — think smooth sustain that blooms into gnarly, saturated grit as you dig in.
Control is refreshingly straightforward: just two knobs, Output and Fuzz, let you dial in everything from a mild fuzzy edge to a fully saturated wall of dirt. There’s no hidden menu or multi-stage voicing to fuss over — plug in and start shaping tone by feel.
Because vintage-style fuzz circuits can react badly to whatever sits in front of them, MXR added a Buffer switch. Flip it on and you’ll sidestep the high-end loss and oscillation issues that often crop up when a wah or another high-impedance pedal shares the signal chain — handy if this fuzz is going to live near the front of your board.
Switching is true bypass, so the Classic 108 Mini stays out of the way tonally when it’s off, letting your core rig sound exactly as it should until you need that saturated push. Housed in MXR’s mini chassis, it slots into tight pedalboard real estate with ease.
