Description
Mad Professor built the Loud ‘N Proud around the idea that a real amp’s behavior matters as much as its tone. Inside this compact box sits a full signal path modeled after a vintage 4-input Marshall — not just the preamp stage, but a simulated power amp too, complete with phase inverter, push-pull stage, and output transformer emulation. The result reacts to your picking dynamics and volume knob the way an actual plexi or JTM45 would, rather than just approximating the EQ curve.
Since old Marshalls ran on moderate gain, Mad Professor added a pre-boost capable of up to 13dB of extra push. Beyond raw gain, this boost thickens the midrange, letting you dial in different amp voicings from the same base circuit — think Bluesbreaker grit through to fuller Plexi crunch.
Stacked on top is a fuzz voiced after vintage germanium circuits. Roll back your guitar’s volume and it cleans up gracefully; dig in and it turns thick and warm. This pairing of germanium fuzz into a Marshall-style overdrive is the same combination that shaped countless classic rock records, and it’s baked directly into this pedal.
A voicing switch gives you two distinct characters: tighter bass with slightly compressed feel on one setting, looser bass and wider dynamics on the other.
- Full amp-in-a-box design: preamp plus simulated power amp stage
- Pre-boost adds up to 13dB of gain and midrange thickness
- Germanium-style fuzz stage, responsive to guitar volume
- Two-position voicing switch for tighter or looser bass response
Suited to players chasing AC/DC, Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Free, Allman Brothers, Malmsteen, or general late-60s/early-70s British rock tone — placed early in your chain where a real amp’s front end would sit.
