Description
The Demeter TRM-1 Tremulator digs into the specific character of old Fender amp tremolo — that asymmetrical, rounded-triangle amplitude wobble guitarists have chased for decades — and delivers it through a quiet, modern optical circuit. No amp-hum baggage, just the pulse.
Controls are kept simple: Depth and Speed sit up front alongside a footswitch and status LED, while a side-mounted trim pot lets you dial in the bias of the optical unit. Push the trim pot up and the on/off ratio tightens; back it off and the pulse relaxes. It ships preset to the ratio Ry Cooder favors, so you’ve got a proven starting point before you start tweaking.
Depth governs how deep the modulation cuts, and since the circuit carries roughly 1dB of gain, running Depth all the way down turns the TRM-1 into a clean, low-noise volume boost rather than a dead-signal bypass. Its low-impedance output also doubles as a line driver, handy for keeping tone intact across long cable runs to the amp. Speed simply sets how fast the low-frequency oscillator cycles, from slow amp-style throb to faster shimmer.
Two 1/4″ jacks — input on the right, output on the left — plus a battery-ground switch keep the front panel uncluttered. Power comes from a 9V battery (must hold at least 7V to operate) accessed by removing four side screws, or an external 9V DC regulated supply (center-pin positive, 100mA or more). Battery and power supply are not included, but two 6″ cables are bundled in to get your board wired up right away.
