Description
The Radial Tonebone Trimode Classic Distortion puts a tube-driven, two-channel amp’s worth of gain on your board without sacrificing your clean tone. Bypass is true and transparent, so your dry signal stays untouched until you step on either distortion channel. Each channel runs through a real 12AX7 tube blended with Radial’s proprietary solid-state drive circuit, giving the saturation an organic, amp-like feel rather than a compressed fuzz wall — and it cleans up beautifully when you back off your guitar’s volume.
Channel 1 is voiced open and dynamic for rhythm work, while Channel 2 tightens up around the midrange for cutting, sustaining lead tones. Both channels get their own input drive and output level knobs, so you can dial a completely different gain structure for rhythm versus solo without touching your amp. A 3-position drive-range switch (low/medium/high saturation) and an overall dark/normal/bright tone switch shape the character further, backed by master bass and treble EQ, independent mid-boost per channel, and a high-frequency roll-off for taming bright rigs.
The standout feature is the effects loop built into Channel 2: patch in a delay or reverb and have it kick in automatically the moment you hit the solo channel — one footswitch, no extra tap dancing. Housed in 14-gauge welded steel for pedalboard abuse, backed by a 3-year warranty, and shipped with a power supply and two 6″ patch cables to get it hooked up fast.
