Description
The core of this pedal is the Big Muff Pi fuzz/distortion circuit that’s anchored countless pedalboards for decades — thick, saturated, sustaining, and unmistakable. Electro-Harmonix built on that foundation with the Tone Wicker addition, giving you two toggle switches that expand what the classic circuit can do without losing what made it great in the first place.
- Flip the Wicker switch on to engage three high-frequency filters, pushing your fuzz into raspier, more defined sustain with extra bite up top — great for cutting through a dense mix or adding some snarl to lead lines.
- Flip the Tone switch on and it bypasses the tone control entirely, unleashing the full, unshaped broadband slam of the circuit for a rawer, more aggressive wall of distortion.
- Want the sound the Big Muff built its reputation on? Switch the Wicker off and the Tone on — that’s the original voicing, unaltered.
Because these two switches combine in different ways, you’re really getting several distinct fuzz personalities in one enclosure, letting you tailor the pedal’s character to your rig instead of settling for one fixed sound. It’s built true bypass, so it stays out of your signal path when off, and it ships ready to go with a 9-volt battery included. If you’d rather run it on the wall, the optional US96DC-200BI power supply is available separately.
Drop it into your distortion/overdrive slot and experiment — the Wicked Wicker rewards players who like to sculpt their own version of Muff.
