Description
The EHX Hell Melter takes the DNA of a cult chainsaw-distortion circuit — the same lineage that fueled Entombed’s death-metal buzz, My Bloody Valentine’s shoegaze haze, and even a corner of David Gilmour’s rig — and gives it room to grow. Internal voltage gets a boost for extra headroom, so the gain stays feral without collapsing into mush, and a Normal/Burn toggle lets you switch between the classic saw-tooth chainsaw voice and a more open, less compressed clipping character.
Beyond Gain and Level, an active EQ with parametric mids puts real shaping power in your hands — dial the midrange frequency itself rather than just boosting or cutting it, useful for cutting through a dense band mix or scooping out for that wall-of-fuzz shoegaze wash. A Dry level control blends your clean input signal back in underneath the distortion, which pedalboard builders running bass or layered guitar rigs will appreciate for keeping low-end definition intact.
A footswitchable boost section adds an internally adjustable input gain and volume kick on demand, great for solos or pushing the front end of an amp harder without reaching for a second pedal. Built-in noise gate control keeps things quiet between hits, even at extreme gain settings.
