Description
The M2 slots into the Legend II line as AMT’s amp-in-a-box take on the Marshall JCM-800, delivering that crunchy, cutting British high-gain snarl without needing to haul a head to the gig. It builds on the original Legend Amp design with a PRO-grade feature set aimed at players who want studio flexibility from a pedalboard-sized unit.
Three simultaneous outputs are the headline act here: a cab-simulated jack for silent recording, a preamp out for feeding a power amp, and a drive out for pushing straight into a combo or amp head. Run all three at once to split your signal for tracking direct and mic’d tone together, or feed separate rigs from a single pedal.
Just as useful is the clean level knob paired with a clean boost switch, which only work when the pedal is bypassed. Set the clean level around 1 o’clock for a transparent buffer that keeps your signal strong through long cable runs and busy chains. Push it further, or hit the boost switch for up to +8dB, and the bypassed signal sits at a comparable volume to the overdrive channel — effectively turning the M2 into a switchable two-channel preamp on your board.
Tone shaping covers the essentials: OD Level and OD Gain for output and drive amount, plus High, Middle, and Bass controls for dialing in the JCM-800 voice from chunky rhythm tones to sizzling lead saturation.
