Description
The Baroni AFK150 blurs the line between “solid state” and “real tube amp” by putting an actual hi-voltage ECC81 tube at the front of a 150W RMS hybrid power section. That tube isn’t decorative — it’s doing the harmonic shaping, adding the dynamic push and low-end heft that separates genuine valve tone from digital emulation.
- Dual-channel preamp, each with its own tone stack, Gain and Volume
- CLEAN channel voiced after blackface-era vintage amps — glassy, headroom-rich, and pedal-friendly
- DRIVE channel built on the circuit of GURUS’ Doubledecker mkII preamp pedal, covering British stack territory from edge-of-breakup to full hi-gain saturation
- Shared Master Volume and master Presence for final voicing
- Onboard footswitch on the top panel for channel switching
- Rear-panel Remote Switching socket compatible with any standard latching footswitch
Where the AFK150 really sets itself apart is format. Foxgear built it as a genuine desktop/cab-top amp — compact enough to sit next to your interface for tracking, but equally at home perched on a cabinet on stage. Pop off the detachable wooden side panels and it drops straight onto your pedalboard, running its DRIVE and CLEAN channels like any other stompbox in the chain, footswitch and all.
For pedalboard builders chasing real amp-in-the-room feel without hauling a head and cab, the AFK150 offers a tube-driven front end, British-voiced gain, and vintage-clean headroom in a footprint that goes wherever the board goes.
