Description
Reinhold Bogner built his reputation on tube amps that ended up in the backline of some of rock’s most demanding players, and the Ecstasy red pedal is his attempt to put that same red-channel fire on a board. It’s not a simulation circuit — Bogner mirrored the actual amplifier’s topology with five discrete Class A gain stages, skipping op-amps and diode clipping entirely. The result is an overdrive that stays articulate and touch-sensitive even when pushed into ripping, modern high-gain territory, while still cleaning up into vintage crunch when you back off the guitar’s volume.
Internally, the pedal steps up voltage well beyond the standard 9V it’s fed (battery or 9VDC supply), giving it a dynamic range and feel closer to the tube original than most stompbox overdrives manage. Tone shaping goes deep: full Gain/Treble/Middle/Bass/Volume controls, a Mode switch (Tight, Mellow, Full) for overall EQ curve and gain contour, a Pre-EQ switch (B1, N, B2) for presence and harmonic openness, and a Structure switch offering EQ/gain voicings pulled from the 100, 101, and 20th Anniversary Ecstasy amp eras.
