The BB-1X earns its spot on a bass board by acting less like an effect and more like a tone-shaping preamp stage. Rather than slapping a new flavor over your rig, it digs into the natural voice of your bass and amp and pushes those qualities forward — the attack, the growl, the feel of your playing hands. BOSS built the onboard drive circuit to track your dynamics across every register, so low notes stay full instead of turning to mush when you push the DRIVE knob.
The BLEND control is where this pedal shows its versatility: dial it low for a subtle push under your clean tone, or run it hot for full-on saturation, all while keeping the fundamental intact. LOW and HIGH knobs give a genuinely wide EQ sweep on either side of the spectrum, so you can carve space in a dense mix or fatten things up for a trio setting.
Live rigs typically split the bass signal with a DI box — amp on one side, PA on the other. The BB-1X handles that job internally with a balanced Line Out (1/4-inch TRS), tuned in consultation with touring bassists and PA engineers rather than just cranking the lows. The result sent to the house is full-bodied and present without throwing off the front-of-house mix, while your amp output keeps delivering the stage tone you dialed in.
Housed in the compact X-series chassis, the BB-1X runs on a 9V battery (included) or the optional PSA-series adaptor, draws 54mA, and includes a CHECK/battery indicator, owner’s manual and safety leaflet. Backed by BOSS’s five-year warranty.
