The ML-2 Metal Core Distortion is BOSS’s most aggressive distortion pedal, built for players who need saturation heavy enough to carry down-tuned riffs while staying articulate under fast rhythm parts. Where many high-gain pedals thin out at extreme settings, the ML-2 keeps its low end intact, making it a natural fit for 7-string rigs, drop tunings, and dense chugging in nu metal, industrial, hardcore, and grindcore.
On a board, the ML-2 wants to sit early in the signal chain, running straight into a clean amp or ahead of another gain stage. The LEVEL, LOW, HIGH, and DIST knobs let you shape everything from a tight chug to a fully saturated wall of distortion. LOW adds mass without turning to mud, while HIGH dials in a screaming, metallic edge that cuts through a busy mix. A 1M ohm input impedance keeps pickups loading correctly, and the CHECK indicator doubles as a battery monitor so you’re not caught off guard mid-set.

Power comes from a 9V battery (6F22 carbon or 6LR61 alkaline, included) or the optional PSA-series adaptor, drawing 36 mA. Compact at 73 x 129 x 59 mm and 440 g, it fits easily onto a crowded pedalboard without stealing real estate from your other gain or modulation stomps.
