Description
The PH-3 is the phaser you reach for when a track needs movement but you can’t decide how much. Boss packed in classic multi-stage phasing—4, 8, 10, and 12 stages—so you can dial anywhere from a subtle vintage wobble to a dense, swirling modern sweep. Drop it after your gain stages for a phased lead tone with bite, or place it near the front of the chain for a more transparent, filtering effect on clean rhythm parts.
Beyond the standard up-and-down cycling, the PH-3 introduces Rise and Fall modes: unidirectional phasing that only sweeps upward or downward, creating a rising or falling texture unlike a typical phaser’s back-and-forth motion. There’s also a Step mode for rhythmic, stuttering phase jumps that lock nicely to a groove.
Tempo control is built right into the footswitch—just tap to set the rate of the sweep on the fly, no menus involved. For deeper real-time control over Rate and Filter while you play, hook up an optional expression pedal (such as the Roland EV-5).
