Description
The VB-2W takes the near-mythical 1982 VB-2 Vibrato and rebuilds it inside BOSS’s Waza Craft line, where vintage tone chasing meets hand-picked analog components. If you’ve ever hunted for an original VB-2 only to balk at vintage-market prices, this is the pedal doing the same job for a fraction of the hassle — genuine pitch-shifted vibrato via a bucket-brigade delay line, not a chorus circuit dressed up to sound like vibrato.
Flip the Standard/Custom switch and you get two distinct personalities: Standard nails the original VB-2’s warble faithfully, while Custom opens up a new filter-wave shape for vibrato textures the 1982 unit couldn’t produce. A Rise Time knob lets you dial in how gradually the pitch wobble kicks in after you engage the pedal, which is handy for swells rather than instant seasick wobble. Unlatch mode is worth building your board around too — hold the switch down to apply vibrato only to the notes or chords underneath your foot, then release for straight signal.
Bypass mode physically removes the BBD line from the circuit when off, so there’s zero latency or tone coloration bleeding through when you’re not using it — placement earlier or later in the chain won’t cost you clarity. An optional expression pedal (FV-500H, FV-500L, or Roland EV-5) plugs into the DEPTH jack for real-time control over effect intensity, turning static vibrato into something you can swell mid-phrase.
