The Hyper Luminal Compressor is Darkglass’s answer to the question of how far you can push analog tone with digital precision. Under the hood, it digitally models the side-chain behavior of three studio-legendary compressors, then routes your actual signal through a completely analog path — so you get the character of these circuits without ever digitizing your tone.
- BUS — modeled after the Solid State Logic® Bus Compressor, for glue and cohesion.
- FET — inspired by the iconic 1176®, for fast, punchy squash.
- SYM — Darkglass’s own discontinued Super Symmetry circuit, reborn digitally.
Rather than mechanical toggles, model and ratio selection happens through touch-through-metal sensors built into the chassis — they read exactly where you touch the pedal and respond instantly. It’s a genuinely different tactile experience on a pedalboard, and since there’s nothing to click or wear out, it’s about as durable as a switch can get.
A 10-LED gain reduction meter gives you a real-time read on how hard the compressor is working, while four knobs handle the shaping: Blend for parallel compression between clean and effected signal, Time for attack/release constants (fine-tunable per model via the Darkglass Suite), Compression for overall amount, and Level for output.
Connectivity covers 1/4″ input and output jacks, a Micro USB B port for loading future compressor models and tweaking parameters via computer, and a 9VDC center-negative power input (250mA) — internally doubled to 18V for extra headroom.
