Description
The EBS OctaBass Studio Edition is the refined version of the pedal that started EBS’s stompbox line back in 1992, originally derived from circuitry inside the classic EBS Taurus combo. It tracks single notes as well as two- or three-note chords, generating a clean analog sub-octave a full octave below the note you play, then lets you blend that generated tone against your dry signal.
Three range settings — High, Mid, and Low — shape the character of the sub-note, so you can dial in anything from a subtle low-end thickener to a full synth-bass growl. Because tracking accuracy depends on a clean input, place the OctaBass ahead of any drive or distortion in your chain; running it before a dirt pedal keeps the trigger signal pristine. For players chasing a keyboard-style synth-bass tone, pairing the OctaBass with an EBS BassIQ envelope filter set to ‘Down’ mode adds that percussive, key-struck quality on top of the sub-octave.
This Studio Edition revision brings an optimized signal path, a new signal relay switching design for true bypass, and protection against overvoltage up to 18V, while still running on a standard 9-12V DC supply.
