Description
Before boutique fuzz became a category unto itself, the V2 “Ram’s Head” Big Muff set the standard: thick, singing sustain with note-to-note clarity that lets chords bloom instead of collapsing into mush. EHX has shrunk that original 1973 Violet circuit into a nano enclosure without touching the voicing players chased for decades — same wide-open low end, same smooth-to-savage fuzz curve, same violin-like sustain on long bends.
On a pedalboard, this one earns a spot at the front of the chain or after your drive stage for stacked gain — either way it rewards guitars with humbuckers and clean, headroom-rich amps where its harmonic complexity has room to unfold. The Tone control leans more musical filter than simple EQ, letting you sweep from dark and woolly to biting and vocal without losing sustain.
Convenience updates keep it stage-ready: true bypass preserves your dry tone when the effect’s off, and a status LED means no more guessing in a dim club. It’ll run on the included 9V battery or an optional 9.6VDC power supply, and the vintage graphics are a nod straight back to the original unit this pedal is built to honor.
