Description
The 4 On The Floor is the debut pedal from Genzler Amplification, born out of a reunion between Jeff Genzler and engineer Andy Field, the same design partnership behind the Genz Benz gear that shaped decades of bass tone. Rather than a single fixed drive voice, this pedal gives you four distinct analog overdrive “gears” to shift between, each with its own texture, harmonic content, and touch response — spanning asymmetrical and symmetrical clipping, varying compression, and increasing overdrive complexity.
- 4 selectable overdrive gears, from clean boost territory up to heavy saturated drive
- Clean blend control to retain low-end punch and note definition under the drive
- HPF and LPF controls to shape the frequency content feeding the overdrive engine
- Touch-sensitive response with both asymmetrical and symmetrical clipping characters
- True bypass switching
- Universal power input: accepts 9–18V, either polarity (power supply not included)
Placement-wise, this is built for the front of a bass rig: use the HPF/LPF pair to tighten or open the tone hitting the drive circuit, dial in the clean blend to keep your fundamental intact, and shift through the four gears depending on whether you need a light push into a clean amp or a fully saturated, harmonically dense growl. The wide voltage tolerance also makes it easy to slot into boards running higher-voltage supplies for extra headroom.
It’s the first release in a new pedal line from Genzler, drawing on unused circuit ideas and decades of shared design history between Jeff Genzler and Andy Field — a genuine bass-first overdrive built by people who’ve spent their careers designing low-end gear.
