The Archer Select rethinks what a dual overdrive should do. Instead of stacking two fixed circuits, J. Rockett built one flexible platform: the right footswitch engages the classic Archer-style transparent boost/overdrive, while the left footswitch lets you swap between seven different diode clipping options on the fly.
Included in that diode selection are the Archer, iKon, and Jeff Mod voicings, plus four additional flavors — giving you a huge spread of clipping character from glassy and barely-there to thick and saturated. Stack the two sides together and you can land on your own custom “Klone”-style tone, or run them independently for clean boost into a saturated solo voice, or vice versa.
On a pedalboard, that versatility means fewer compromises: one enclosure covers the transparent-boost-into-amp role and the higher-gain drive role, with the diode-swapping side acting almost like a tone-shaping control rather than a fixed gain stage.
For direct-recording players, there’s a built-in DI, so the Archer Select can function as a standalone overdrive going straight into a DAW input or a FOH snake — useful for silent practice, quick demos, or gigs where you’re not miking a cab.
