Description
The DB-01 Crybaby From Hell isn’t a stock wah with a paint job — it’s Dimebag Darrell’s personal spec sheet turned into hardware. Where a standard wah gives you one fixed sweep, this one hands you a 5-way frequency selector on the side, letting you dial in whether you want the sweep centered for scooped rhythm chug or pushed into screaming high-end lead territory. Pair that with the adjustable “Q” control for frequency breadth and a Fine Tune knob that reshapes the toe-down range, and you’ve got a wah that can be voiced for a specific riff rather than just switched on and off.
Beyond the sweep, there’s real firepower built in: a Volume Boost knob adds up to +17dB on tap, switched on/off via a side-mounted control with its own red LED. Both that boost LED and the Wah-on LED are placed at the rear of the pedal instead of the front, so from house lights or stage monitors, you (or your tech) can actually see the pedal’s status from across the stage.
Dimebag also built in a few road-worn practicalities. Skateboard skid-tape replaces the usual rubber tread for grip that holds up even when the stage floor gets wet. A second input jack on the left side lets you run straight through just the wah side of the circuit, skipping the extra cable loop and reducing the chance of a cord snagging under the treadle mid-set — a small detail that matters when you’re stomping hard.
