Description
The EVH95 isn’t a signature wah in name only — it’s a direct clone of Eddie Van Halen’s personal “Holy Grail” Cry Baby, the pedal he modified himself decades ago with a High Q inductor for a more vocal, wider sweep. Years of playing mostly the middle of the pedal’s throw literally reshaped the resistive element inside his pot, sharpening that mid-range bite while opening up extra low-end travel. Dunlop mapped that exact wear pattern and paired it with a hand-selected inductor, so you get the same throaty, sculpted honk Eddie chased without needing thirty years of stage time to earn it.
Placement-wise, this behaves like a classic Cry Baby: drop it early in the chain, ahead of gain stages, to keep that vocal quack articulate through distortion, or run it after a boost for a more saturated, singing lead tone. True hardwire bypass means it stays out of the way sonically when it’s off, and the dual bright blue LEDs make on/off status easy to spot on a dim stage. The black-and-yellow striped graphics nod directly to the Van Halen II guitar finish, so it looks the part on any board.
