Description
Built from L.R. Baggs’ work on the Handcrafted Video Sessions, the Session DI takes what a seasoned engineer would do to your acoustic signal in a top-tier studio and packs it into a pedalboard-friendly box. Instead of just boosting your pickup, it reshapes the tone with the kind of analog warmth and dimension that’s usually reserved for post-production.
At its core is a proprietary analog saturation circuit voiced specifically for acoustic guitar, adding harmonic richness and a smoother, more playable feel under your fingers. Paired with that is a three-band Compression EQ that works nothing like a typical broadband compressor — each band (low, mid, high) acts as a touch-sensitive filter, clamping down on trouble frequencies only when your playing dynamics call for it, then backing off as you soften your attack.
Feedback control comes from a Garret Null notch filter, while a variable high-pass filter clears out unwanted low-end mud before it hits the mix. A built-in VU meter helps you dial in clean gain staging whether you’re running passive or active pickups, and a ground lift switch handles any hum from ground loops on the fly.
