Description
Think of the 23Fe+ as a tone-shaping utility rather than a conventional pedal: a passive, 1:1 ratio high-impedance transformer that sits anywhere in your chain and quietly rewrites the character of what passes through it. Guitar, bass, synth, pedal steel—whatever you run into it comes out with a touch of vintage grit and natural compression, especially noticeable with passive pickups feeding your favorite amp.
Where the 23Fe+ really earns its keep is on digital sources. Cold, sterile digital effects and digital synths/keys pick up real warmth and dimension. It also works as a subtle tone sweetener elsewhere on the board, or as a fix for a drive pedal that’s gotten too raspy—drive it with an overdrive and you’ll find new tonal territory worth exploring.
This is the ‘+’ revision of the original 23Fe design, built around a new transformer called the Super Tony—larger core, redesigned bobbin, and a small nickel doping of the core that extends both bass and treble response while cutting manufacturing failure rate dramatically. The result is a more polished, less colored voice than the original 23Fe, though still noticeably more characterful than LBA’s 2020S or 2020 transformers. That wider, cleaner response also makes the 23Fe+ friendlier to stacking multiple units without collapsing your frequency response.
