Description
The Forest Green Compressor (FGC) is Mad Professor’s answer to players who want squash without sacrificing feel. Built around an extremely low-noise circuit with generous overload headroom, it handles a wide dynamic range at your input without adding hiss or crunch — so it sits quietly at the front of your chain, doing its job invisibly.
- LEVEL — In Compressor mode this is your overall output, generous enough to double as a clean boost. Switch to Sustain mode and it instead governs the level of the sustained tail rather than total volume.
- COMPR — Dials in compression depth and sustain length. Low settings act more like peak limiting; push it up for denser squash with reduced touch response. Around 10 o’clock is a solid starting point for most guitars, with maximum settings delivering heavy compression that stays clear at near-infinite sustain.
- TONE — Shapes the compressed signal for transparency. Counter-clockwise keeps full-range compression, noon tightens things up with a touch less low end, and fully clockwise gently tames upper treble.
- COMPRESSOR/SUSTAIN switch — Attack and decay are pre-tuned internally for a fast attack and slow decay. Flip to Sustain and your pick attack survives intact while the FGC lifts the decay and quieter notes — ideal for slide and blues phrasing where touch sensitivity matters. Flip to Compressor for straightforward, standard squash.
Runs on 9–18VDC (14mA draw at 9V), with 1M Ohm input impedance and 20K Ohm output impedance. True bypass keeps the FGC out of your tone entirely when off, making it a natural fit anywhere in a guitar or bass pedalboard signal chain.
