The Mighty Red Distortion (MRD) chases that saturated, compressed 80’s lead tone without burying it in noise or mud. Mad Professor’s designers avoided the usual crutches of noise gates and expanders, instead relying on custom low-noise amplifier stages to keep the signal-to-noise ratio around 96dB even at the pedal’s maximum 62dB of gain. The payoff is a natural, musical decay rather than an artificially clipped tail — your notes bloom and fade the way they should.

Onboard controls are straightforward: VOLUME sets output level, DISTORTION dials in gain intensity, and PRESENCE shapes upper treble without disturbing the upper midrange — meaning you can move between warm, singing distortion and cutting, aggressive leads without losing the character in between.
Built on true bypass switching and running from 7.5 to 18VDC, the MRD draws 10.6mA at 9VDC and outputs up to 1V pk-pk (500mV rms). Whether it’s anchoring a hard-rock board on its own or getting slammed by a pre-drive for extreme, focused saturation, this pedal is designed to keep every note articulate.
