Description

The Royal Blue Overdrive is built around touch-sensitivity rather than fixed gain. Dial the Distortion knob back and it behaves like a subtle EQ shaper; push it further and you unlock a crunchy, tube-amp-style breakup that responds directly to how hard you dig into the strings. Mad Professor kept filtering minimal here, so the overdrive stays transparent — the tone shaping comes from you, the Treble and Bass knobs, and your guitar’s own volume control.

Placed after a clean or lightly overdriven amp, the Royal Blue adds that boutique-amp trait of letting pick attack and guitar volume dictate the amount of grit, making it a natural fit for players who ride dynamics rather than stomp on a fixed distortion setting.

  • VOLUME — overall output level
  • DISTORTION — dial in breakup that tracks picking force for the most dynamic response
  • TREBLE — shelving EQ acting in the Presence range, adding shimmer without stacking on top of an amp’s own treble boost
  • BASS — shelving EQ working just above a standard 4×12 cabinet’s resonance; push both Bass and Treble for a scooped heavy tone, or pull them back for a soft mid-boost voice

Quick settings: fully counter-clockwise on Treble and Bass gives a midboost voice; fully clockwise gives a midcut voice.

Specs: current draw 3.5mA at 9V DC, input impedance 140K, output impedance 25K, voltage range 7.5–12V. Runs on a 6F22 9V battery or a DC eliminator with 2.1mm plug, center negative, positive sleeve.
