Description
Phaser and heavy overdrive have gone hand in hand since guitarists first chased that thick, swirling 70s and 80s tone – but most vintage phaser circuits were never actually engineered with guitar in mind. The Mad Professor Tiny Orange Phaser was. It’s a hand-wired take on the classic effect, distilled down to three controls that stay musical and usable across their entire range, from a subtle shimmer to a full-throttle warble.
What sets this pedal apart is the Mix knob’s dual-personality behavior. Dial it below 12 o’clock and you get deep, low-frequency phasing that adds movement without losing low-end weight – ideal ahead of a saturated drive pedal. Push it past 12 o’clock and the effect shifts focus to the upper frequencies for a glassier, more airy sweep. Set it dead at 12 and the phasing switches off entirely, letting you use the pedal as a clean-signal utility when you want it silent.
- SPEED – sets the rate of modulation
- RESONANCE – acts as a tone control, adding high-end emphasis as you turn it up
- MIX – no effect at 12 o’clock; clockwise and counter-clockwise settings dial in two distinct phase characters (low-focused vs high-focused)
Built true bypass and hand wired for reliability on the road, it’s a compact, no-nonsense addition to any board where you need phase modulation that behaves predictably at every setting.
