The Mad Professor Tiny Orange Phaser takes a vintage-inspired circuit and tunes it specifically for guitar, so the phase effect stays articulate instead of turning into mush when you stack it with overdrive. It’s hand wired, true bypass, and built to sit on a board without demanding much real estate.
Why it’s different
Older phaser circuits were rarely designed with electric guitar in mind – great character, but awkward sweet spots. Mad Professor dialled this one in so every knob, from 1 to 10, produces a usable, balanced tone. No dead zones, no guesswork.
Three controls, wide range
- SPEED – sets the rate of the modulation sweep.
- RESONANCE – works like a tone knob, adding high-end bite as you push it up.
- MIX – the interesting one: below 12 o’clock you get a deep, low-frequency-focused phase; above 12 it shifts to a brighter, upper-register phase; centered at 12 o’clock, the effect disappears entirely.
That MIX behavior effectively gives you two distinct phaser voices in one footswitch, letting you place it before a drive for a thick, swirling low-end grind, or after for a shimmering, glassy top-end sweep.
