Description
Most distortion pedals chase the sound of a tube amp pushed hard; the MTG Tube Distortion Pedal simply puts a real tube in the signal path and lets it do the work. At its core sits a New Old Stock (NOS), US-made 6205 preamp tube, giving you the harmonic complexity and dynamic response that solid-state clipping circuits only approximate. Dig into your pick attack and the tube reacts the way a valve amp’s front end would — compress, bloom, and grit that responds to how hard you play, not just where a knob is set.
Shaping that tone is handled by a 3-Band EQ (bass, mid, treble) plus a dedicated Tight control, which tightens up low-end flab for cleaner rhythm chording or scooped-mid lead voicings. A switchable boost section — with its own independent Level and Boost controls — sits ready for solos, letting you push the front end into heavier saturation or simply add volume without recalibrating your whole tone stack.
For pedalboard builders, that’s a lot of tonal real estate packed into a single compact enclosure: real tube saturation up front, full-range EQ shaping in the middle, and an on-demand boost stage for dynamic set changes. Place it early in your chain for amp-like breakup that cleans up with your guitar’s volume knob, or use the boost independently to nudge a clean amp into overdrive territory. Either way, you’re working with an actual vacuum tube, not a simulation of one.
