Description
The Phase 90 was already a staple of guitar rigs before it found its way onto Eddie Van Halen’s board, but once it did, it became inseparable from his sound. That unmistakable swirl runs through “Eruption,” “On Fire,” “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” and “Atomic Punk” — tone that guitarists have been chasing for decades.
The EVH90 is Dunlop’s collaboration with Eddie himself, rebuilding the Phase 90 circuit from the ground up while keeping its DNA intact. Drop it into your chain and you get the same lush, spacey modulation and hypnotic warble that made the original a legend — but with a new trick up its sleeve.
A Script switch lets you flip between two distinct phaser personalities on the fly:
- Script Logo mode — the vintage, smoother sweep tone of the earliest Phase 90 units
- Block Logo mode — a punchier, more aggressive modern phaser voice
That means you’re not locked into one flavor of phase; you can dial in subtle vintage shimmer for cleaner passages, then switch to the bolder Block voicing when you need the pedal to cut through a saturated lead tone. Works equally well in front of a driven amp or after a distortion pedal in your signal chain, adding movement without muddying the low end.
Visually, it’s unmistakable — finished in the red, white, and black stripes lifted straight from Eddie’s Frankenstein guitar, with a blue LED to mark it as unmistakably EVH.
For pedalboard builders chasing that classic Van Halen swirl with the option of a modern edge, the EVH90 delivers both in a single, compact stomp.
