Description
Most wahs give you one flavor of sweep. The MXR MC404 CAE gives you two, courtesy of a pair of premium Fasel inductors wired for entirely different personalities. Flip the side-mounted kickswitch to the Yellow inductor for a brighter, more cutting sweep that pushes leads through a dense mix, or switch to Red for a fatter, low-to-mid resonant honk that suits rhythm work and vintage rock tones. LEDs flanking the pedal let you confirm which voice and which boost state is active at a glance, even in a dim stage environment.
Bradshaw and the Cry Baby design team didn’t stop at dual inductors. A built-in MXR MC401 Boost/LineDriver circuit is wired into a second kickswitch, so you can kick in extra output the moment a solo needs to punch through the band, then drop it back out just as fast. Internal trim pots for Q and gain let you dial the resonance and boost level to taste, which means this wah can be voiced for anything from subtle funk chank to screaming lead work.
Built for the working guitarist’s pedalboard, the MC404 runs true hardwire bypass so your tone stays untouched when the effect is off, and a long-life CTS potentiometer keeps the sweep feeling consistent night after night.
