Description
Piezo pickups can sound thin, quacky, or downright unruly onstage — the Radial PZ-Pre exists to fix that. Rather than a generic acoustic DI, this is a genuinely powerful preamp platform built from 100% discrete class-A circuitry, engineered specifically to tame and enhance piezo-loaded instruments of every kind: acoustic guitar, violin, cello, banjo, mandolin, contrabass, bouzouki, lute — if it’s got a pickup, the PZ-Pre knows how to talk to it.
- Two independent inputs let you switch instruments mid-set or blend two sources without swapping cables
- Semi-parametric EQ shapes tone with warmth rather than harshness, so you can dial in body without losing clarity
- Dual-Q notch filter surgically kills specific feedback frequencies before they wreck your set
- High-pass filter trims boomy low-end resonance from hollow bodies
- Phase reverse switch lets you adapt to whatever room or stage is throwing feedback at you
Routing flexibility is where this pedal really earns its place on a board: a dedicated instrument amp output for your onstage rig, a balanced XLR pre-EQ direct out feeding the house mix untouched, and a separate balanced XLR post-EQ out for monitors or in-ears. There’s also a muted tuner output for silent tuning between songs, plus an effects loop and power boost stage to add sizzle and push when a song needs extra dynamics.
Whether you’re tracking in the studio, playing a coffeehouse gig, or fronting a full band on a festival stage, the PZ-Pre travels light and adapts instantly — a single, compact box standing in for a rack’s worth of acoustic gear.
