Description
This bundle pairs a genuine Fender workhorse with a pedal built to push it into overdrive territory. The Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster ’50s in Butterscotch Blonde nails the original Tele formula: a pine body finished in gloss polyester, a vintage-tint gloss maple neck carved to a Modern “C” profile, and 21 medium-jumbo frets across a 9.5″ radius board. What sets this particular Tele apart from its stablemates is its custom alnico 5 single-coil set — wound for warmth and top-end clarity, with enough bite to cover country twang, blues grit, jazz comping, and straight-ahead rock without swapping guitars.
- Bridge and neck: custom vintage-style alnico 5 single-coils, switched via 3-position blade selector
- Master Volume and Master Tone controls
- 3-saddle strings-through-body bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage-style tuners
- Synthetic bone nut, 1.625″ width, 25.5″ scale length
- Strung with Fender USA NPS strings (.009-.042)
On the floor, the MXR M78 Badass ’78 Distortion takes over where the Tele’s cleaner voice leaves off. It’s a hot-rodded take on a classic distortion topology, aimed squarely at amp-stack tones and old-school tube saturation rather than fuzzy modern gain. Three knobs keep it fast to dial in, and the CRUNCH switch toggles between two clipping modes — diode and LED — reshaping the harmonic content of the distortion on the fly. Set in front of a clean amp it builds a convincing wall of drive; ahead of an already-dirty or overdriven amp, it stacks for soaring lead tones and thick, saturated rhythm parts. Sturdy circuitry and hardware mean it’s built to sit on a board for the long haul.
Together, this Tele’s clear single-coil voice and the M78’s amp-like push give you a complete, gig-ready rig straight out of the box.
