Description
The Suhr ISO Boost is less a “boost pedal” in the usual sense and more a signal-chain utility that happens to also add serious punch to your amp. At its core is a clean, transparent gain stage that runs from unity (0dB) up to +20dB, letting you kick a tube amp into a hotter, more saturated response without smearing your tone or coloring your pickups’ character. Because the circuit is always buffered, it also doubles as a line driver, restoring high-end sparkle and drive that would otherwise get lost through long cable runs or crowded pedalboards.
What sets it apart is the two-position ISO switch, which engages an internal isolation transformer. Flip it left and you get an isolated, buffered output that kills ground loops and hum between amps and effects — invaluable for stereo rigs, multi-amp setups, or DI/recording situations. Flip it right for a straightforward non-isolated buffered output when isolation isn’t needed.
Practical touches round out the design: a battery monitor watches voltage at power-up and during play, warning you before failure and automatically switching to True Bypass if the 9V battery drops too low to run reliably. An FxLink jack (1/8″) allows remote on/off switching via shield-to-tip activation.
- Boost range: Unity (0dB) to +20dB
- Input impedance: 1M ohm / Output impedance: 600 ohm or 10k ohm
- Power: 9Vdc center negative, 2.1mm x 5.5mm; operates 4V–18V, max 20Vdc
- Current draw: 8mA; estimated battery life 75–100 hours
- Reverse battery and over-voltage protection built in
- Dimensions: 2.50″ W x 4.50″ D x 1.25″ H; Weight: 1 lb
- RoHS compliant
Placed anywhere in your chain, the ISO Boost works as a clean gain boost, a solo lift, or a dedicated buffer/isolator to keep the rest of your board sounding tight and quiet.
