Before amp modeling and plugin EQ, engineers shaped guitar and bass tone through the channel strips of those legendary ’60s and ’70s consoles — thick, musical, and unmistakably alive. Tech 21 built the QStrip to put that same 100% analog MOSFET coloration into a pedalboard-friendly DI box, so you can carry vintage console warmth to any stage or session without hauling a rack.
Placed last in your signal chain, the QStrip acts as a tone-shaping gatekeeper between your pedals and the front-of-house or interface input. Two parametric mid bands give you surgical control over honk and mud, while the high and low shelving filters let you brighten or thicken the overall voice. Pair that with switchable HPF and LPF and you’ve got a genuinely flexible EQ platform, not just a passive DI.
The LPF deserves special mention: roll it off correctly and it doubles as a speaker simulator, letting you tame the fizz off your favorite distortion or fuzz pedal for a more amp-like direct tone. The HPF, meanwhile, cuts the low-end rumble that piezo pickups and acoustic-electric setups tend to generate when run straight into a mixer.
