Description
The Kangra Filter Fuzz packs two distinct engines into one true bypass box: a thick, spatty octave fuzz built for aggressive lead work, and a psychedelic filter section that handles everything from slow sweeps to funky envelope-triggered movement. Run them together or split them apart — the filter works independently or fed straight from the fuzz, giving you far more flexibility than a standard fuzz box on your board.
This one was born from a collaboration with SNL guitarist and fuzz obsessive Jared Scharff, who wanted a modern take on his beloved vintage Kay Fuzz Tone. The result carries plenty of vintage grit alongside genuinely modern control.
- M/V Fuzz Switch: Modern (M) gives a more forgiving fuzz with longer, tighter sustain; Vintage (V) delivers a starved, spatty breakup with shorter, grittier decay.
- Filter Section: Resonance, Sensitivity, Frequency, and Envelope Filter controls let you shape a unique tonal contour on their own or layer them over the fuzz. Flip the Envelope switch for auto-wah-adjacent, sixties-style funk textures — closer to a vintage low-pass filter than a traditional wah.
Place it anywhere from a filthy fuzz lead machine to a standalone filter/EQ tool for sweeps and frequency shaping. It’s not built for polite rhythm work — this pedal wants to tear into aggressive lead lines.
Housed in a peach diecast enclosure with artwork by Adam Forster in white and blue ink, inspired by Jared’s trip through the Kangra Valley near the Himalayas. Enclosure measures 4.77″ x 2.6″ x 1.39″. Runs on 9VDC, center negative, minimum 100mA — an isolated power supply is recommended (avoid daisy chains). Power supply not included.
