Description
Analog chorus doesn’t need a wall of knobs to sound great, and the Blue Hippo proves it. Housed in Way Huge’s space-saving Smalls enclosure, this bucket-brigade pedal takes the wobbly, watery character of the classic “blue box” chorus circuits and boils it down to two controls: Speed and Depth. Turn them low for a gentle widening effect that thickens single-coils and humbuckers alike without smearing your pick attack, or push them further for a woozy, rotating-speaker style swirl that fills out ambient passages and clean arpeggios.
Flip the Vibe switch and the pedal drops the dry signal entirely, replacing the chorus with a warbly, pitch-shifting vibrato reminiscent of vintage tape wobble – handy for surf leads, dreamy verses, or anything that calls for a bit of seasick motion. Since the circuit is fully analog, the modulation feels organic and reacts naturally to your playing dynamics rather than sounding programmed.
Built for pedalboards where real estate is tight, the Blue Hippo’s standard-sized footprint slots in easily between other stomps without hogging space, and true hard-wire bypass keeps your tone untouched when the effect’s off. A blinking blue LED doubles as a visual rate indicator so you can dial in speed by eye as well as ear.
