Description
The EP Booster distills the preamp character of the old Echoplex EP-3 tape unit into a single stompbox — the same trick guitarists like Page, EVH, and Eric Johnson leaned on for a boost that thickens tone instead of just turning up the volume. Built around a discrete FET circuit with low impedance output, it delivers up to +20dB of gain while keeping the highs glassy and the lows full, with none of the ear fatigue that plagues lesser boosters.
Because it’s designed as a transparent pre-amp stage rather than a color box, the EP Booster works equally well up front to push a tube amp into breakup, mid-chain to fatten drive pedals, or at the end of the board to compensate for cable loss. Internal DIP switches let you dial in the boost frequency and EQ voicing, so it can lean bright and articulate or warm and rounded depending on where it sits in your signal chain.
It’s housed in a compact 3.5″ x 1.5″ x 1.5″ enclosure with a blue LED and a transparent control knob, runs on true bypass, and can be powered from 9V up to 18V for extra headroom. This bundle includes two 6″ offset Hosa patch cables, so you can wire it into a pedalboard right out of the box.
