Description
Long before EP-3 tape echoes were prized for their sound, players like Page, EVH, and Johnson were quietly running them as preamps — not for delay, but for the way that circuit fattened and clarified a signal ahead of an amp. Xotic reverse-engineered that specific tone into a standalone booster, built around a discrete FET design and a low impedance output.
Rather than a generic volume bump, the EP Booster is voiced to open up both ends of your tone — highs stay glassy and dimensional, lows stay full, and the added gain (up to +20dB) sits in front of your amp without turning harsh or fatiguing at higher volumes. Internal DIP switches give you control over boost frequency and EQ shaping, so you can tailor whether it leans transparent or adds a bit of character on its way into your next pedal or amp input.
It’s built into a small enclosure with a blue LED and a transparent control knob, easy to tuck onto a crowded board, and runs on standard 9V up through 18V power for extra headroom.
