Description
The Robotalk 2 earns its spot on a serious pedalboard by refusing to be just one thing. Flip between three distinct filter modes — a randomized arpeggiator that spits out unpredictable rhythmic patterns, a classic envelope filter that responds to your pick attack with vocal, quacky sweeps, and a smooth lo-pass filter for rounding off harsh highs. Two easy-access footswitches let you jump between functions mid-song without breaking stride, and the fully adjustable frequency range means you can dial in everything from subtle auto-wah shimmer to aggressive, synth-like squelch.
Under the hood it’s 100% analog, built with hand-selected, thoroughly tested transistors that Xotic’s engineers chose for touch sensitivity and warmth. A FET buffer stage at the output adds natural amplification and a rounder overtone, so the filtered signal stays musical rather than thin or brittle. Every unit is assembled by hand in the USA and housed in a shock-resistant aluminum diecast enclosure built to survive van rides, stage spills, and years of gigging.
Guitarists, bassists, and other instrumentalists alike can put this to work — it’s not fussy about source material. Session players including Scott Henderson, Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, and Tim Pierce have all reached for it in the studio and on stage.
