Xotic built the SP Compressor around the same OTA (operational transconductance amplifier) circuit that made the original Ross Compressor a benchmark for guitarists chasing natural, musical squeeze. Rather than cloning that vintage sound outright, Xotic opened it up: a dry blend knob lets you layer compressed signal under your uncompressed tone for punch without losing pick attack, while up to +15dB of clean boost means this pedal can double as a solo kick or gain-staging tool ahead of your dirt pedals.
An internal dip switch adjusts attack response, so you can dial in everything from a fast, transparent clamp for funk and country chicken-pickin’ to a slower, rounder compression that fattens up single-note lines and chords. Because it’s true bypass, the SP stays out of the way tonally when it’s off — important real estate on a crowded board.
The nano enclosure is small enough to tuck almost anywhere in your signal chain without eating up pedalboard space, and it ships with two 6″ offset patch cables so you can slot it in next to your drive and modulation pedals right out of the box.
