Description
The ZVEX Fuzz Factory Vexter Series isn’t a set-and-forget fuzz — it’s an instrument in itself. Where most fuzz pedals give you a single flavor, the Fuzz Factory hands you four interactive knobs (Gate, Comp, Drive, and Stab) that push the circuit into territory ranging from tight, aggressive fuzz that snaps to silence the moment you stop playing, to wild intermodulating oscillations that seem to argue with your guitar signal as notes decay.
Dial it in conservatively and you get thick, velcro-ripping fuzz with octave-like overtones for riffing and lead work. Push the Stab and Gate knobs further and things get unpredictable in the best way: shortwave radio squeals, self-oscillating drones, and feedback that responds to pick attack, volume knob, and even your position relative to the amp. It’s a pedal that rewards experimentation and can become a genuinely expressive, touch-sensitive tone-shaping tool once you learn its sweet spots.
On a pedalboard, the Fuzz Factory works well as a dedicated chaos box — placed early in the chain for maximum interaction with your guitar’s pickups and volume control, or run into other drive and modulation pedals for layered, unpredictable textures. Because its behavior shifts with input level, it’s especially sensitive to what’s feeding it, so many players keep it isolated or place it right after the guitar for the most direct, unfiltered control over the oscillation.
