Description
The Memory Boy takes the DNA of the Deluxe Memory Man and builds outward, keeping the dark, warm repeats that made EHX’s analog delays a staple on pedalboards for decades while adding modulation options the original never had. Two years of development went into this box, and the goal was simple: put that heritage tone within reach of players who don’t have a vintage-pedal budget.
At its core this is an all-analog delay with feedback, capable of up to 550ms of delay time — enough for slapback, rhythmic echoes, or trailing ambient washes. Where it separates from a plain delay pedal is the onboard modulation: switchable Chorus or Vibrato rates let you thicken or wobble the repeats, and you can pick between triangle and square waveforms to shape whether that modulation swells gently or pulses more rhythmically.
An optional expression pedal input adds live control over either delay time or modulation rate, and hooking up an expression pedal also extends the modulation rate’s range beyond what the onboard knob allows — handy for players who want to sweep from subtle shimmer into deeper, warbling territory on the fly.
Built with true bypass so the Memory Boy stays out of your way when it’s off, this pedal sits comfortably late in a signal chain after drive and modulation pedals, or on its own for washy, vintage-flavored ambience. A power adapter is included.
