Description
Think of Mudhoney II as two of T-Rex’s cult-favorite distortion pedals sharing a single pedalboard footprint. Rather than compromising, the design doubles down: both channels are fully independent and voiced identically, so you can set up matching gain stages, dial in a rhythm/lead split, or run them in series for a serious wall of drive.
Each side gets its own Level, Gain, Tone, and Boost knob plus dedicated footswitch, giving you real range from warm tube-style push to saturated high-gain distortion and fuzz territory. The Tone control has been re-voiced from the original Mudhoney to keep the low end full without turning to mud when you need to cut through a dense mix — a common gripe with stacked gain pedals.
Because the two circuits are identical, there’s no guesswork matching character between channels; it’s purely about gain staging and where in the chain you want each one placed. Good spot on the board: right after your overdrive/boost section, before modulation and time-based effects, so the distortion character stays intact downstream.
