Description
Before there was a Robotalk 2, there was just Robotalk — the pedal that taught a generation of players how to make their guitar or bass talk, squelch, and chatter like a robot having a great time. Xotic’s Custom Shop dug back into that original circuit and rebuilt it from the ground up, shrinking it into a pedalboard-friendly enclosure while sharpening the envelope filter’s tracking and touch response. The result feels more alive under your fingers, reacting to pick attack and dynamics with the kind of expressive swell that made the original a cult favorite.
The real draw, though, is the arpeggiator. It was the feature fans never stopped asking Xotic to bring back, and here it returns enhanced — chopping your signal into strange, gated, rhythmic pulses that sit somewhere between a synth sequencer and a broken robot. Stack it against the envelope filter and you get textures that are equally at home locking down a funk groove or pushing into weirder experimental territory. Bassists get thump and quack; guitarists get vocal, talking-wah character with an unpredictable edge.
Built for real-world signal chains, it runs on a 9V battery or standard negative-tip adapter (compatible with Voodoo Lab Pedal Power, Dunlop DC Brick, Boss PSA, and Ibanez AC109), and accepts both active and passive unbalanced inputs.
