Description
The Vexter Fuzz Factory strips away the hand-painted artwork of ZVEX’s original Fuzz Factory in favor of silk-screened graphics, but the guts underneath are built exactly the same way — same DC power jack, same on/off LED, same wild circuit. That silk-screen finish is the only thing separating this version from its pricier hand-painted sibling, so you’re getting the identical sound for less.
At the heart of it sit two new-old-stock 1960s germanium transistors, wired into a circuit that ZVEX never based on any classic fuzz topology. It’s its own creature entirely, one that seems to belong to some lost psychedelic era rather than any fuzz lineage you’d recognize. Five knobs give you control, though ZVEX themselves admit the names are more suggestion than strict rule — each one adjusts an operating level or bias point that interacts with the others in unpredictable ways.
What that means on your pedalboard is a fuzz that can sit tame and thick for rhythm work, or get pushed into gated, sputtering, self-oscillating territory that borders on synth-like noise. It rewards experimentation more than presets, so plan on spending real time turning knobs to find the personalized fuzz tone this circuit is capable of.

- Two new-old-stock 1960s germanium transistors
- DC power jack and on/off LED indicator
