Description
The Iron Horse V2 goes back to what made classic high-gain distortion work: a thick, punchy voice that stays riff-friendly instead of collapsing into mush. Walrus revised this version so unity gain is easier to nail, and reworked the Distortion control so the lower end of its range is genuinely usable, not just a stepping stone to full saturation.
- Tone — Dials in high/treble frequencies specifically, and now has extra treble on tap when you need a brighter edge cutting through a mix.
- Distortion — Sets the amount of gain/distortion, with a smoothed-out range that makes lighter crunch settings far more accessible than before.
- Level — Sets overall output volume.
- Mode — Switches between different clipping-diode arrangements, giving you a spread of distortion characters from one pedal.
- True Bypass On/Off — One press engages the effect, another returns you to clean bypass, keeping your signal path unaffected when off.
On a pedalboard, the Iron Horse V2 earns its spot as the main gain stage: place it after your tuner and any drive/boost pedals, before modulation and time-based effects, and let its diode-mode flexibility cover everything from tight rock crunch to rowdy, saturated high-gain tones. It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense distortion for players who want thickness and punch without losing note definition.
